Equal time in the yearbook? Some schools think so

Written By: Evan Blackwell, CJE

Does your yearbook staff set goals with the coverage to include as many students as possible? Or even ensure every student appears at least once?

Many schools do just that, as this recent article from The New York Times Upfront news magazine indicates.

The yearbook editor at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in New Jersey tracks how often each of the 1,400 students appears in the yearbook, with the goal of each one appearing twice. At William R. Boone High School in Orlando, with 3,000 students, the staff tries to enforce a one-time-per-person rule for candid images and quotes.

Does your yearbook staff follow any guidelines like this with your coverage?
