Fundraising for yearbooks
Ideas to Consider
- Auction off the marching band for an event. Get band to agree to split the proceeds.
- Spaghetti dinner, pancake breakfast or ice cream social. Or how about breakfast with Santa?
- Hold a movie night. A new release or an old favorite that appeals to parents, too. Publicize this as a family event for the community.
- Car wash. An old standby that has withstood the test of time. Create a gimmick to freshen up this old favorite.
- Faculty and student talent show. Or “dunk the teacher” in the dunking machine.
- Community work day billed as a “Rent a Student” for a day event.
- Treasure hunt where students rent a toy shovel and dig in specified area for a hidden treasure.
- How-about-a-thon? A walk-a-thon or dance-a-thon. Sponsors agree to pledge a set amount for each hour students participate. Corporate sponsors may donate snacks and supplies for the opportunity to advertise.
- Newspaper drive.
- Fashion show.
- Casino or carnival night.
- Staff vs. local radio/TV personalities in a sporting event – before a game or at halftime. Charge admission and sell refreshments.
- Best legs or eyes contest. Display photos of student or faculty legs or eyes on coffee cans or jars. Participants put set dollar amount in the can or jar of their choice.
- Dog wash.
- Let’s dance! Hold a victory dance, winter dance, or a just-for-fun dance. Charge admission and sell refreshments. Have photographer take candid and posed shots for a small fee.
- Organized pillow fight or water gun fight. Participants pay fee to whack or shoot each other.
- Signing party when yearbook arrives.
- Powder-puff football. Girls play, guys cheer. Participating teams pay entry fee. Charge admission and sell refreshments.
- Garage sale.
