Six Walsworth Yearbooks schools named NSPA Pacemaker winners at JEA/NSPA in San Francisco
Six Walsworth Yearbooks schools were among those chosen as winners of 2017 Yearbook Pacemaker awards from the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) during the awards ceremony Saturday evening at the JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention in San Francisco.
The 2017 Yearbook Pacemaker winners printed by Walsworth Yearbooks included:
- Decamhian, Del Campo High School, Fair Oaks, California
- Indian, Shawnee Mission North High School, Overland Park, Kansas
- The Lair, Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, Shawnee, Kansas
- The Lion, McKinney High School, McKinney, Texas
- Wings, Arrowhead Christian Academy, Redlands, California
Four additional 2017 yearbooks printed by Walsworth were honored as Pacemaker Finalists, including Buffalo, Haltom High School, Haltom City, Texas; Hauberk, Shawnee Mission East High School, Prairie Village, Kansas; Hoofbeats, Burges High School, El Paso, Texas; and
The View, Timberview Middle School, Fort Worth, Texas.
In addition, the Le Flambeau from Notre Dame de Sion High School in Kansas City, Missouri, a new Walsworth Yearbooks school for 2018, was also chosen as a Pacemaker winner. Two additional new Walsworth Yearbooks schools for 2018 – Panther from H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, Florida, and The Arena from Legacy High School in Mansfield, Texas, won Pacemaker Finalist.
Each year, the Pacemakers are awarded by teams of professionals who judge the yearbooks using several criteria, including coverage and content, quality of writing and reporting, leadership, design, photography and graphics. The contest is open to any NSPA member publication.
