Shawnee Mission North, Gresham finish first in Fall NSPA Best of Show
Fourteen Walsworth Yearbooks schools placed in the Best of Show contest at the virtual Fall JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention held this past weekend. The convention was held virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but NSPA still allowed entries into the Best of Show and announced the winners on Saturday.
Two Walsworth Yearbooks schools placed first in their categories. Munhinotu from Gresham High School in Gresham, Oregon, finished at the top of the “Yearbook up to 223-110 pages” category. Indian from Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park, Kansas, finished first in the “Yearbook 349-296 pages” category.
In the largest page category, “Yearbook 608-352 pages,” Hauberk from Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas, placed second; while The Lion from McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas, placed fourth. Horizon from Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas, finished fifth and Aerie from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, placed ninth. The Ledoian from Aledo High School in Aledo, Texas, a new Walsworth Yearbooks school for the 2021 school year, placed eighth.
Three additional Walsworth schools placed in the “Yearbook 349-296 pages” category: Odyssey from University High School in Orange City, Florida, finished third; Fusion from Hagerty High School in Oviedo, Florida, finished fifth; and Aftermath from Palm Harbor University High School in Palm Harbor, Florida, placed sixth.
In the “Yearbook 288-224 pages” category, The Wildcat from Har-Ber High School in Springdale, Arkansas, placed 10th. The Clipper from Kearney High School in Kearney, Missouri, finished sixth in the “Yearbook 223-110 pages” category.
The Round-Up from Woodland Junior High School in Fayetteville, Arkansas, placed second in the “Junior High/Middle School Yearbook” category; while the Oro from Cactus Canyon Junior High School in Apache Junction, Arizona, finished third.
The Best of Show competition is typically held at every national convention and recognizes overall excellence among the attendees and entries.
