Walsworth customers earn one-third of high school CSPA Gold Crowns
Kansas City, Mo. (March 22, 2010) – Nine high school yearbooks were honored with 2010 Gold Crowns by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association – with one-third of those yearbooks printed by Walsworth Publishing Company.
CSPA named 47 Crown finalists in December, and 12 high school and middle school yearbooks received a Gold Crown and 35 received a Silver Crown March 19 during the CSPA’s 86th annual Spring Scholastic Convention at Columbia University in New York City.
Three of the Gold Crowns won by high schools were printed by Walsworth Publishing: Hauberk, Shawnee Mission East High School, Prairie Village, Kan.; Hoofbeats, Burges High School, El Paso, Texas; and Lair, Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, Shawnee, Kan.
Five Walsworth yearbooks were named as Silver Crowns: Indian, Shawnee Mission North High School, Overland Park, Kan.; Legend, William R. Boone High School, Orlando, Fla.; Pride, Franklin High School, El Paso, Texas; Wings, Arrowhead Christian Academy, Redlands, Calif.; and Lion’s Den, Hyde Middle School, Cupertino, Calif..
The Crown awards are among the nation’s highest awards for scholastic journalism. The yearbooks are judged by a panel of journalism and journalism education professionals on overall concept, design, coverage and photography. Both regular and associate members of CSPA participate in the awards.
