Clint Smith teaches at Texas High School in Texarkana, Texas where he co-advises the student newspaper The Tiger Times and the Tiger yearbook. Smith teaches journalism, digital media, commercial photography and a convergent media class.
Before becoming an educator, Smith worked in broadcast news, advertising and owned a commercial photography studio.
Smith recently completed his terms as president and former president of the Association of Texas Photography Instructors and his program earned the ATPI Top Program Award in the spring of 2023. In 2019 Smith received the Edith Fox King Award from the Interscholastic League Press Conference for contributions to journalism in Texas. In October of 2023, the Texas Association of Journalism Educators will present Smith with the Trailblazer Award for setting trends and helping to shape journalism in Texas.
Students at Texas High School consistently receive individual achievement awards for photography on the state and national levels. The Tiger Times and the Tiger both received numerous NSPA Pacemakers and CSPA Crowns Awards over the past 15 years.
